The first rhythm on Night Service was recorded under a shelter after the final bus had passed. The timetable casing, rain, and distant depot machinery became a loose grid for the session.

Kofi Arc returned to the route over seven nights with two contact microphones and a recorder small enough to hide in a coat pocket. Nothing was sampled for atmosphere alone: every sound had to carry the pulse.

Back in the studio, the field recordings were sent through speakers and played against by hand. Platform 4 keeps the first usable pass. No Signal is the only piece assembled later, after a broken cable left half the drum microphones silent.
